April 28, 2017 – HLN’s Michaela Pereira addresses the crowd at The SDABJ scholarship reception.
The 2017 SDABJ scholarship reception was an amazing, fun filled and inspirational night for five lucky scholarship recipients. HLN’s Michaela Pereira, host of MichaeLA shared her journey to success with the ultimate message “Don’t let anyone talk you out of your dreams.” The students along with local journalists had the opportunity to mix and mingle with Pereira at the Red Card Cafe. Lorrie Jordan, a former meteorologist for NBC San Diego was the Emcee for the evening. Lorrie now teaches journalism at High Tech High International. One of her students, Cianna Platt, received a $1000 scholarship. Check out more photos from the evening here.
