Dear SDABJ,
I’m deeply honored and humbled to become your next president of this organization. Since, moving to San Diego last year, this chapter has welcomed me in with open arms and shown me what it means to advocate for black journalists. I’m very excited about this next chapter with SDABJ. I’m committed to SDABJ’S mission of strengthening ties among Black journalists, mentoring young journalists, and expanding job opportunities and recruiting activities for our community. My goal is to continue the exemplary work that SDABJ has done the last year and build on it with more programming to help everyone grow and build their journalist toolbox. I also want this organization to be an advocate for Black content creators and communication professionals in the realms of marketing, public relations and so much more. Though we’re living in unprecedented times, I believe leadership, teamwork, and a positive attitude will help us make 2021 an incredible year for our organization. My life motto is to “be a rainbow in someone’s cloud” and with SDABJ my goal is to use whatever influence I have to uplift Black people throughout San Diego County. Again, thank you for this amazing opportunity and I promise to make all of you proud.
