Jerry McCormick is a Senior Public Information Officer for the City of San Diego. McCormick has a diverse background in journalism working in print from 1990-2009 at papers in Ohio, Colorado, South Carolina, California, and at television stations in San Diego and Portland, Ore. from 2009 to 2017. McCormick teaches journalism. From 2007 to 2016 he taught at Southwestern College in Chula Vista, Calif., and then at San Diego City College from 2016 to 2018. Currently, he is an adjunct professor at San Diego State University teaching a course in reporting, writing, editing, and producing for television. McCormick is the founding president of the San Diego Association of Black Journalists and served as its president three times. In addition, he served on the national board of the National Association of Black Journalists from 2003-2005. McCormick is now an At-Large member of the national board of the Society of Professional Journalists.
