Khari Johnson is a reporter, photographer and video producer who has worked for online news outlets in San Diego, Calif. since 2008.
He founded and was editor of Imperial Beach Patch from August 2010 to January 2014. He also covered communities of Coronado and La Mesa-Mount Helix as a Patch editor. Since 2008 he has published work for Media Arts Center of San Diego, San Diego News Network and more. He has also had work published by San Francisco Chronicle and Business 2.0 Magazine.
Johnson has received awards from Patch.com and San Diego Press Club and scholarships from the Florida Society of Newspaper Editors and Knight Foundation and San Diego Association of Black Journalists.
In the United States he has reported stories in San Diego, San Francisco Bay Area, Colorado Springs and South Florida. In Europe he has reported stories from Holland, Denmark, Italy, France, Turkey and far east as the border of Syria and Iraq.
Johnson joined journalism students from eight other countries in the Europe in the World program at Hogeschool von Utrecht in fall 2005 and Danish School of Media and Journalism.
He has a bachelors degree in Journalism with an emphasis in print and online media and political science minor from San Francisco State University.
