The scholarship I received from the San Diego Association of Black Journalists helped me as I juggled a part-time job, a full load of classes and internships. But it also pressed upon me the importance and great need to highlight Black voices in media. That message sticks with me today, into my professional career — a career made possible by the help of organizations like SDABJ.
