Title: Senior Program ManagerCompany: Twitter
The scholarship I received from the San Diego Association of Black Journalists kick started my career and has been a key part of my success. Today I work as a Senior Program Manager at Twitter who focuses on internal communication and content strategy, but when I got this award I was simply an aspiring journalist searching for a way into the field. Receiving this scholarship not only gave me the financial support I needed for school but it introduced me to a network of people who have been friends, mentors, and colleagues ever since. After receiving this scholarship I joined two student newspapers, graduated from San Diego State University, and worked for NBC and NPR. My career has provided me with years of dreams fulfilled, challenges, and rewarding work; I’m thankful SDABJ played a pivotal role in my journey.
