As a student of San Diego State University, I was working full time between two or more jobs while also taking a full course load each semester. Receiving the San Diego Association of Black Journalists scholarship was life changing for more in that it helped to cut down my stress during my final year of college. Because of this scholarship, I was able to take on a year long internship at inewsource while still paying my tuition and graduating without student debt. I’m incredibly thankful for the leg up SDABJ gave me toward my career in journalism, where I now work as a full-time
reporter at The San Diego Union-Tribune.
