The future looks bright for five impressive journalism students from the San Diego Area. High school seniors Dylana Guyon and Cianna Platt both received $1000 scholarships to help defray costs of their studies. Madison High school senior, Dylana has been accepted to San Diego State. Under the tutelage of her instructor, former NBC 7 weather person Lorrie Jordan, Dylana has discovered her passion for journalism. Cianna, a senior at High Tech High International, will head off to Chapman University in the fall for broadcast journalism and documentary. She enjoys hanging out with friends and playing music. Crystal Martinez and Caleb Danielson both attend San Diego City College. Crystal is a first generation Latina who was the first in her immediate family to graduate high school and attend college. Caleb is the copy chief for the city college paper, City Times. He is transferring to Sacramento State in the fall. The $1500 Ozzie Roberts Scholarship was presented to Gregory Blackshear. Gregory’s interest in journalism began at an early age when he wanted to emulate his hero Stuart Scott. Gregory will be majoring in journalism at San Diego State in the fall semester.
